Hi all! Could y'all teach me about my hard drive fan and temp? I'm using my laptop a lot this summer. I'm noticing that after a while the fan comes on and off farely frequently. How can I keep an eye on this? Is the laptop doing its job and keeping the hard drive cool? Is there a chance my hard drive is overheating? I appreciate some education here...smile! I've seen these cooling trays or tables for the laptops; are these a good idea? There's one out there called I-Lap, it looks quite good and doesn't plug into a USB. At least I don't think so. Anyway, thank you.

Hi.
I'm not particularly strongg on hardware, but I think your laptop is doing it's job fine. I know it's disconcerting when that fan comes onn, but when it comes onn it does so for a reason, so I would leave it alone.

Good luck,
Bob

Usually the fan comes on when allot of processing is being done. Example when I am watchinkg dvd's on my computer the fan will eventually come on and get faster as the machine gets hotter. This is a good thing. Also, I do have an associate that uses a laptop cooler and it has made a difference. The processor wil thank you.

although the fan does cool the hard drive somewhat, it isn't referred to as a hard drive fan. Just wanted to point that out.

Thank you all. Do y'all recommend a particular cooler?

Well a good laptop will have a good fan, so no need to worry.
